I booked the base room and received a one-category upgrade to an Ocean Wing Ocean View Room.

Hello, this is Racu.

Here is my review of ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort, one of Ishigaki's best-known resorts.

(Breakfast restaurants, club lounge, facilities, pools, and more)

I traveled with my 16-month-old child, and I would return if I visited Ishigaki again.

(Especially when traveling with a child.)

Getting there

It takes about 20 minutes by taxi from Ishigaki Airport (ISG) to ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort.

There is a taxi stand just outside the airport with several taxis waiting, so getting one is easy.

The fare is about JPY 2,500–3,000.

Some taxis do not accept cards, so if you need to pay by card, make sure to ask before getting in.

Ask the driver to take you to the wing where you are staying, and you can check in without having to move between buildings.

ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort is quite large, with four wings: Ocean Wing, Bay Wing, Club Wing, and Coral Wing.

The facilities you can use, such as pools and restaurants, differ by wing, so I will explain them in detail.

Ocean Wing: Opened in 2009

Coral Wing: Renovation completed in July 2023

Bay Wing and Club Wing: Opened in July 2020

The newer buildings are the Bay Wing and Club Wing.

For families, there is the Coral Wing, which has bunk beds.

The Ocean Wing is the main building and the most straightforward choice.

The Ocean Wing and Coral Wing are connected,

and the Bay Wing and Club Wing are connected as well.

If a newer building is your priority, book the Bay Wing.

I recommend the Coral Wing for guests with young children.

If you want club lounge access, book the Club Wing.

When you need to move to another building, such as from Ocean Wing ➡️ Club Wing, you can take a complimentary buggy from in front of the lobby.

Of course, you can also walk.

The Ocean Wing is the hotel's main building, so most facilities are there.

The Coral Wing's renovation was completed in 2023, so the interiors are fresh. It is a good choice for a stay with young children.

The Bay Wing and Club Wing are the newest buildings, so they feel new.

Booking the Club Wing gives you Club InterContinental Lounge benefits.

My review of the Club InterContinental Lounge is further down.

Officially, Bay Wing guests cannot use the Sunrise Pool, and Ocean Wing and Coral Wing guests cannot use the Sunset Pool.

That is the official rule, although I did not see anyone checking or restricting access.

The Club Pool is open only to guests staying in the Club Wing.

There is a waterslide that children around elementary-school age can enjoy.

Your breakfast restaurant options also depend on the room you are staying in.

Ocean Wing and Coral Wing guests can choose between the Japanese and Western restaurants.

At Yaeyama, the Japanese restaurant, each person can order one egg dish after being seated, and there is a small buffet as well.

One distinctive offering was salmon rice bowls. With my child, I ate breakfast only at the Japanese restaurant and the club lounge.

As you would expect at a resort, there are coin-operated laundry facilities.

Detergent is dispensed automatically, so you do not need to add any.

Wash + dry, 1 kg: JPY 400

Wash + dry, 3 kg: JPY 500

Wash only, 6 kg: JPY 300

Dry only: JPY 100 per 30 minutes

I ran a wash-only cycle first, then a separate drying cycle afterward.

The maximum dryer time you can set at once is 2 hours.

The machines accept only JPY 100 coins, and you can exchange banknotes for coins at the front desk.

Except in the Ocean Wing, you can also check laundry machine availability on your room's TV.

In the Ocean Wing, there are microwaves you can use yourself; in the other buildings, ask the front desk staff.

The convenience store, gym, and ATM are only in the Ocean Wing.

Maesato Beach

This beach is accessible only to InterContinental hotel guests.

Activities are available for an additional charge, and there is also Maesato Ocean Park, where you can play out on the water.

Opening hours

9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.

Once you have paid, you can use it all day during opening hours.

Buy your ticket at the beach house and they will put a wristband on you.

There is no staff member permanently stationed there, but if staff check and find you playing without a wristband, you must pay on the spot.

It is a fun place for children from around elementary-school age onward.

Club InterContinental Lounge

Guests staying in the Club Wing and holders of an IHG Annual Lounge Pass can enter.

Opening hours

6:30 a.m.–10:30 p.m.

Breakfast: 7:00 a.m.–10:30 a.m.

Afternoon tea: 2:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.

Happy hour: 5:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m.

Accompanying family members aged 12 or under cannot enter during happy hour, but can enjoy happy hour at SALTIDA instead.

The happy hour food in the lounge would be hard to make a full meal out of,

but at SALTIDA, selected sections of the buffet are opened to families with children under 12, and the food is substantial enough to replace dinner.

According to the information sheet, the Club Pool is only for Club Wing guests, even if you have a lounge pass.

Some other offerings are also limited to Club Wing guests, so bear that in mind.

I chose breakfast as my IHG Diamond benefit and used both the Ocean Wing Japanese restaurant and the club lounge for breakfast.

Happy hour drinks menu

Since I was staying with my 16-month-old child, I could not enjoy happy hour in the club lounge and used SALTIDA instead.

This is the SALTIDA buffet selection.

The section near the entrance is available to club lounge guests with children. Compared with the regular dinner buffet, some meat dishes are not included.

However, the selection changed every day over our 3 days, so it did not get boring.

It ranks among the best InterContinental happy hours I have experienced worldwide.

Southeast Asian resorts are great too, but if you are traveling with a young child, I recommend ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort.

What impressed me most was that, being in Japan, the water was clean and we did not have any trouble adjusting to it.

There are plenty of activities for children from kindergarten to elementary-school age, so I saw many families.

As a resort, it also has microwaves, which made warming baby food easy.

The indoor pool was under renovation when I visited, but it has since reopened and is available for use.

I would 100% return on another trip to Ishigaki.

Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo

The essence of a high-end hotel

Location: Right in front of Tokyo Station

You can book through Marriott, but the hotel does not offer qualifying stays, qualifying nights, points, or breakfast as an elite benefit.

I visited as a Marriott Titanium member.

Here is my review of a stay at Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo, one of the most expensive hotels in Tokyo, along with The Bvlgari Bar, breakfast, and lunch.

The location really is hard to beat.

The lobby is on the 40th floor, and you can take the elevator straight up.

This is the lobby corridor you see when you step out of the elevator.

The overall atmosphere feels calm and grand.

This is the space that greets you when you open the door and walk in.

The entire room feels luxurious beyond luxurious.

Bvlgari advertisements play endlessly on the TV.

Welcome amenities

They provide fruit, wine, cake, still and sparkling water, and even chocolates that cost KRW 15,000 per piece.

Here is the stationery on the desk.

Everything except the highlighter is Bvlgari.

Minibar

As you would expect from a luxury hotel, there is a half-bottle of Krug in the minibar.

Compared with the room rate, you could almost call them modest.

The room controls and power outlets are inside the drawer beside the bed.

Between the main room and the bathroom are a wardrobe and a luggage rack.

Even the dressing table seems to say, "I'm luxurious."

A Dyson hair dryer is provided.

The bathroom is directly behind it.

All the amenities are Bvlgari products, of course.

Open the doors beside the taps to find the shower and toilet.

Once again, the amenities are by Bvlgari.

Looking down, you see Tokyo Station, so it is not particularly beautiful.

Not everyone can simply walk in

I also visited The Bvlgari Bar on the 45th floor.

Hotel guests can drop in without a reservation,

but non-guests will be turned away at the entrance without an advance booking.

There is also an area reserved exclusively for hotel guests.

I visited late at night, so the photos are dark overall.

Step onto the terrace and you can see Tokyo Tower.

Yamazaki 18 Year Old.

I remember it costing around JPY 18,000.

This was a parfait, but I cannot remember the exact name.

If staying at the hotel is out of reach, I think booking The Bvlgari Bar in advance and visiting is a good alternative.

Il Ristorante

(Breakfast and lunch)

Breakfast hours: 7:00 a.m.–10:30 a.m.

Lunch hours: 12:00 p.m.–2:30 p.m.

Breakfast is served at Il Ristorante on the 40th floor.

It is à la carte rather than a buffet, and you choose either a Japanese or Western breakfast.

We chose one of each.

It comes with pastries, fruit, an egg dish, sausages, bacon, and roasted potatoes.

The Japanese breakfast is served as a complete set.

To be honest, breakfast was more disappointing than I had expected.

The tableware was pretty, but the flavor and selection fell short of my expectations.

I decided to give lunch a try as well, just in case.

It is served at the same Il Ristorante.

I'll just share the food photos.

You can safely give it a miss.

At this price, spend your money on something tastier.

With its high room rates, this is not an easy hotel to stay at casually,

but it was a stay that let me experience, at least once, what a hotel can really be.

The Bvlgari Bar is worth a visit even if you cannot stay at the hotel,

but I honestly cannot recommend the restaurant.
